I’ve got the opportunity to obtain (another) really great camera.
Except this ones a bit more $$, and I cant exactly decide what to do.
So I put it out to the people..
In a nutshell, I really want it, but it would mean cutting a 1+ year trip short by about 10-15 days, but would also mean getting to use it along the way.
Pro’s:
- Completely unique, nothing like anything else I own.
- Don’t know anyone else with one
- Results are awesome
- 35mm / No batteries
- Price would be double if I tried obtain one in Australia
- Get to use it for rest of trip
Con’s:
- I’m already carrying too much stuff
- Not all Labs (as I travel) will be able to scan the negs
- Its kinda chunky, wont fit in the cam backpack with the Hasselblad already.
- Max shutter is 1/250th
- No light meter, need to use hand held.
- Cost means cutting trip approx 2 weeks shorter
So you decide.
Don’t be a camera fag, you already have a zillion cameras and good ones at that, who knows what could happen in those 15 days you’ll lose.
“Don’t know anyone else with one” is not a pro. You don’t need it. It completely negates the entire enchanting aspect of your trip because your inner material girl is hypnotising you to buy yet another “thing”. You don’t need more things.

hey Closer, I like ‘things’!
You like visiting places more though. Although, if you don’t buy the camera and have those extra 2 weeks and then die within that period then i shall feel very very guilty indeed. So maybe invest in the camera so I can’t be held accountable for your demise. Should it occur.
Too much choice can be a curse.
I say stick to what you’ve got and use your talent kid. You could shoot great with a disposable!
get the camera ! get the camera !
